Bethel Township
Vehicle Accident – At 8:19 p.m. Oct. 17, a crash occurred in the 700 block of Legionaire Drive involving a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old Bernville man and a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old Jonestown woman, accompanied by a 64-year-old Myerstown woman. All three people involved were wearing seatbelts. The man wasn’t injured. The women were transported to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, one via Bethel Community Ambulance and the other via Life Lion EMS.
DUI Crash – At 2:09 p.m. Oct. 20, a crash occurred in the 400 block of Freeport Road when a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Gardecki, 58, of Sinking Spring, left the road and struck a mailbox, then continued west on Freeport Road for a quarter mile before coming to rest on an embankment at Beagle Road. Gardecki was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. Police charged Gardecki with DUI.
Vehicle Accident – At approximately 3:01 a.m. Oct. 26, police responded to the area of SR 343 and Freeport Road for a single-vehicle crash involving a deer. A 2015 Ford F-150XLT was traveling south on SR 343 when a deer entered its lane and was struck. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. The Ford was driven from the scene.
City of Lebanon
Drug Possession, Resisting Arrest – On Oct. 12, police charged Carlos Camacho-Roman, 29, with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest after police were called to the 400 block of South 8th Street for a 911 hang-up. Officers recognized Camacho-Roman had an active warrant, but Camacho-Roman refused to follow officers’ commands, and a substantial amount of force was used to take him into custody. Police found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Drug Possession – On Oct. 10, police charged Jason Ortiz, 22, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was stopped by adult probation on the 900 block of Cumberland Street. Ortiz had a plastic zip bag that contained green leafy vegetable matter on his person.
Theft By Unlawful Taking – On Sept. 30, police charged Angel Vargas, 33, after he took 500 gallons of used cooking oil from another person on the 200 block of Cumberland Street.
Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault – On Oct. 11, police charged Carlos Camacho-Roman, 29, with terroristic threats and simple assault after he pointed a handgun at a woman on the 800 block of Willow Street and threatened to kill her. Camacho-Roman also sent her a picture of a black Smith & Wesson handgun, which placed her in fear for her life.
Arrest Warrant – On Nov. 2, police issued an arrest warrant against Brandon Tobias, 41, with the original charge being possession of drug paraphernalia.
Heidelberg Township
Vehicle Accident – At 3:58 p.m. Oct. 28, a crash occurred on SR 897 East at Rhine Road. A 2002 BMW 325 driven by a 22-year-old East Norriton man was traveling east on SR 897 behind a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris driven by a 47-year-old Reading driver. The Metris slowed in anticipation of making a left turn onto Rhine Road. The BMW attempted to pass the Metris in the opposite lane, striking it as it began its turn, then leaving the road to the left, striking a sign, shrub, and fence. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and sustained no injuries. Police charged the East Norriton man with limitations on overtaking on the left.
Vehicle Accident – At 7:27 a.m. Nov. 1, a single-vehicle crash occurred in the 3400 block of Heidelberg Avenue. As a 2012 Ford Escape driven by a 40-year-old Newmanstown woman, accompanied by a 14-year-old Newmanstown girl, was traveling east when a deer entered the road and was struck. Both females were wearing seatbelts. The juvenile sustained a possible injury but was not transported. The Ford was towed from the scene.
Jackson Township
Vehicle Accident, Careless Driving – At 4 p.m. Oct. 28, a crash occurred in the 00 block of Eisenhauer Road. A 1995 Ford Econoline E150 driven by a 58-year-old Lebanon driver exited a driveway and turned west onto Eisenhauer Road before leaving the road to the north and striking a utility pole. The Lebanon driver was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. Police charged the motorist with careless driving.
Vehicle Accident – At 10:03 p.m. Oct. 26, a crash occurred on West Lincoln Avenue, east of North Locust Street, involving vehicles driven by a 36-year-old Myerstown man and a 60-year-old Lebanon woman, accompanied by a 4-year-old Myerstown girl. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, although it is unknown if the Lebanon woman sustained any injuries. The juvenile was using a front-facing child safety seat and sustained no injuries.
Millcreek Township
PFA Violation, Disorderly Conduct, Driving While Suspended – On Oct. 28, police responded to the 200 block of Village Drive and charged Anthony Lubin, 61, of Mechanicsburg, with a PFA violation, two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of driving while suspended (DUI-related). The victim was a 56-year-old Newmanstown woman.
Vehicle Accident, Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic, Careless Driving – At approximately 7:49 p.m. Nov. 2, a crash occurred when a 20-year-old Womelsdorf man driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger south on North Sheridan Road lost control. The car left the road and flipped multiple times, coming to rest in a field along the 200 block of North Sheridan Road. The driver told police a small animal had run across the road, so he tried to swerve and brake, but the brakes did not work so he pulled the emergency brake. He said he was driving 40 to 50 mph. He was wearing a seatbelt, sustained a possible injury, and was not transported. The Dodge was towed from the scene by RJ Sell’s. Newmanstown Fire Department assisted on the scene. Police charged him with driving on roadways laned for traffic and careless driving. Warnings were issued for an expired inspection and driving on a suspended registration.
North Cornwall Township
DUI – At 3:50 a.m. Oct. 28, police pulled over a 2018 BMW 340I X Drive on the 1900 block of Walnut Street for a moving violation. Police said the driver, Taylloy Hernandez, 22, of Elizabethtown, showed signs of impairment, and odors of an alcoholic beverage were emitting from the interior. The driver was taken into custody for the suspicion of DUI.
North Lebanon Township
Retail Theft – On Oct. 29, police charged a juvenile with retail theft after an incident at Walmart in which the juvenile stole over $132 worth of merchandise.
Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Harassment – On Oct. 11, Rocky Mercado allegedly entered a residence on the 500 block of Weavertown Road and committed a theft, criminal mischief, and harassment. He engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with the victim.
Accident Involving Damage, Failure to Stop and Give Information – On Oct. 21, a Mount Joy man backed his tractor-trailer into another vehicle and left the scene while making a delivery on Hanford Drive.
Retail Theft – On Oct. 26, police charged Amber Arbogast with retail theft after an incident at Walmart in which Arbogast allegedly stole over $717 worth of merchandise.
North Londonderry Township
Vehicle Accident, Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic – At 10:10 p.m. Oct. 28, a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Palmyra woman left the road at Lingle Avenue and Cambridge Road and struck a utility pole. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Palmyra Fire Police assisted. Police charged her with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Vehicle Accident – At 5:03 p.m. Oct. 31, a crash occurred on the 1000 block of East Main Street as a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Lebanon man struck a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Hummelstown woman, causing minor damage. There were no injuries. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Palmyra Borough
Ordinance Violation – At approximately 8:45 a.m. Oct. 24, police responded to the 800 block of East Broad Street (Old Seltzer’s Field) for a report of a burning violation. Police found a 19-year-old individual with an open fire in violation of borough ordinance #127. Police issued a citation for a summary offense.
Robbery, Simple Assault – On Oct. 28, police responded to Weis Markets, at 901 E. Main St., where a suspect allegedly demanded money from a cashier and threatened to stab the cashier if they failed to comply. The suspect fled the store without receiving any money. The suspect wore sunglasses and had a black cloth tied around his face and head. Police later identified the suspect as Mark Shane-Herrick, 47, who was also determined to have been involved in multiple robberies in multiple counties. On Oct. 31, police arrested Shane-Herrick on charges of felony robbery and misdemeanor simple assault. On Nov. 1, MDJ Garver arraigned Shane-Herrick and denied bail. Shane-Herrick remains in Dauphin County.
Retail Theft – Palmyra Borough police are asking for information on the woman pictured below, who is a suspect in a retail theft Sept. 7 at Weis Markets, 901 E. Main St. Anyone with information is asked to call 717-838-8188 or submit a tip through CRIMEWATCH.
Union Township
Vehicle Accident – At 2:52 p.m. Oct. 28, a 1998 Honda VT1100 Shadow Ace driven by a 63-year-old Lebanon man was traveling east on Moonshine Road (SR 433) when, due to mechanical problems, the Honda left its lane on a left curve. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, sustained a suspected minor injury, and was transported via Pine Grove VFD to Hershey Medical Center. The Honda was towed from the scene. Pine Grove EMS and NFLES assisted.
Found Property – At 12 a.m. Oct. 26, police responded to the lobby of the PSP Jonestown Barracks to meet with an individual who found a bag of miscellaneous items along the Appalachian Trail in Union Township. Anyone with any information regarding the bag’s owner is asked to contact PSP Jonestown at 717-865-2194.
West Lebanon Township
Criminal Mischief – On Oct. 31, police charged a Lebanon woman after she kicked in the windshield while seated in the passenger’s side seat of the victim’s vehicle on the 1600 block of West Cumberland Street.
Retail Theft – Police charged Charles Triana-Lopez with retail theft after he allegedly stole over $870 worth of merchandise from Boscov’s on Nov. 2.
