The Friends of Cornwall Iron Furnace will host “Christmas at Cornwall” on Saturday, Dec. 2 at historic Cornwall Iron Furnace.
The annual, family-friendly event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic site, at 94 Rexmont Road.
Admission includes guided tours of the furnace, seasonal refreshments, and a model train displayed by Brian’s Model Trains under the furnace’s large, decorated tree. The museum store will be open for holiday shopping, and family crafts and visits from Santa will be offered in the 1860s paymaster’s building.
A new feature this year will be walking tours of Minersvillage led by several local historians. Also, Lebanon Valley Craft Brewery will offer free tastings as well as sales of their products and merchandise in the blacksmith shop, which will be transformed for the day into “Coleman’s Tavern.”
Cornwall Manor once again will partner with the Friends to provide access to their restored buildings, including tours of the public areas of the 19-room Buckingham Mansion.
They will host “Cookies, Carols, Crafts & More” from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Freeman Community Center. During the event, there will be fresh holly sprigs for sale, Chapel Choir carolers, homemade cookie sales, handcrafted items by Cornwall Manor woodworkers, and a holiday craft sale. Gift-wrapping will be offered by donation, and Manor Cafe will offer a light lunch for visitors.
The model railroad display of the Cornwall area, complete with scale models of the major buildings, will be located in the stable
Tickets will be sold on the day of the event at the Cornwall Iron Furnace Visitor Center. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for youth ages 3-17. The walking tour costs an extra $5 per person.
Cornwall Iron Furnace is administered by the Pennsylvania Historic Museum Commission and is the most complete cold-blast furnace in North America. Call the furnace at 717-272-9711 or check the website at cornwallironfurnace.org for updated information.
