To celebrate Intellectual Disability Awareness Month, Lebanon County Mental Health/Intellectual Disability/Early Intervention (MH/ID/EI) in conjunction with The Arc Lancaster Lebanon, will be hosting a Disability Health and Wellness Resource Fair on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Area on Aging Auditorium (710 Maple St, Lebanon).
During a recent study by The Arc of PA focusing on health care needs of individuals with a disability, it was found that many health care providers do not know how to effectively work with and communicate with someone with a disability. Nor do individuals with a disability know how to effectively go about talking to health care providers. The goal of the Health and Wellness Resource Fair is to enable both the opportunity to interact, learn how to work together for the betterment of care, and learn about providers in the community who would be able to serve their health and wellness needs.
The purpose of the event is to offer attendees a chance to meet with local agencies and providers, discuss services, experience care, discover resources and make connections. Demonstrations and Health Screenings as well as information and resources from various disability and health agencies that serve Lebanon County.
The Resource Fair aligns with recommendation #11 Increase community based resources for healthcare and wellness in the report for the PA Department of Health “Recommendations for Addressing COVID-19 Health Disparities Among the Disability Community.”
