A new Sheetz store will open at 2150 W. Cumberland St. in North Cornwall Township on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 a.m.
Grand opening festivities are scheduled to kick off outside the store at 9 a.m., featuring multiple prize giveaways, including a “Free Sheetz for a Year” grand prize ($2,500 gift card). The official ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for 10:45 a.m.
In addition to the grand opening celebrations, Sheetz is offering free self-serve coffee and soda throughout the day to welcome customers.
During the grand opening ceremony, Sheetz will donate $2,500 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the food bank. In return, donors will receive a Sheetz branded thermal bag (one per customer, available from 9-11 a.m., while supplies last).
Sheetz will also make a $2,500 donation to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania during the ceremony.
A Sheetz spokesperson said that the store was expected to hire approximately 30-35 employees. Jobs currently posted include store supervisor and store team member.
As part of the new gas station – the third Sheetz store to be opened in Lebanon County – the Altoona-based company underwrote improvements for the intersection at Cumberland and 22nd streets.
The 2.46-acre property was formerly home to a First National Bank branch. It is owned by a locally administered trust held by members of the McMindes family, which formerly operated the Sheridan slag operation on the site of today’s Lebanon Valley Mall.
