The team started the FRC 2024 season, Crescendo, by competing against 32 teams at Hatboro-Horsham School District in Montgomery County from March 1 to 3. They brought home a win for the third consecutive year.

From March 15 to 17, they competed against 28 teams at Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, where they won the event and the Quality Award, “which recognizes teams that exemplify robustness in machine concept and execution,” according to a press release from the team.

Anshi Paul, a member of the Krypton Cougars, also won the FIRST Dean’s List Award for raising awareness of FIRST. This competition win put them in the running for the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District championship.

During the championship at Lehigh University from April 4 to 6, the team placed in the top half of more than 60 teams and was picked fourth in the alliance selection process. The double-elimination playoff tournament ended with Team 2539 as semifinalists and winners of the Creativity Award “for demonstrating creativity in designing new strategies that enhanced the quality of competition play.”

The team is now preparing for the FIRST World Championship, which will be held from April 17 to 20 in Houston, Texas. This competition is the culmination of four months of hard work and competition from 600 of the world’s top FRC teams.

Last year, the Krypton Cougars made team history by earning a 12-4 record and completing the competition as division finalists.
