Steckbeck Engineering & Surveying, Inc., was founded in 1990 by Jeff Steckbeck, P.E., who wanted to create a high-quality civil engineering company in his hometown of Lebanon, PA. In the 34 years that have passed since that day, SESI has grown from a one-man operation to a thriving firm made up of a 28-person team.
In 2005, realizing the positive impact his team members made on his company, Steckbeck made a decision to share the company with his employees by transforming SESI into an employee-owned company, or an “ESOP.” Since that time SESI has been managed by a Board of Directors, currently including Steckbeck; Scott Rights, P.E.; Steve Sherk, P.E.; Chad Smith; Mike Lusaitis, P.E.; and Jason Chernich, P.L.S.
What can SESI’s growth be attributed to? According to Board member and Director of Civil Engineering Steve Sherk, it is all due to the talented, hard-working people who joined the team along the way.
“Our employees work hard for our clients,” says Sherk. “Together, we made SESI into a highly successful venture with a sterling reputation in Lebanon County and beyond.”
Today, SESI offers a wide variety of services to its clients. A multifaceted team consisting of professional engineers, professional land surveyors, CADD technicians, certified drone pilots, inspectors, and support staff, SESI meets the needs of both its municipal and private clients, large and small alike.
