The Salvation Army of Lebanon County is opening up a new “Client Choice Pantry” in September, and they need the community’s help to fill it.
Organizers say they’ve seen firsthand the food insecurity in the community, and they’re stepping up to be part of the solution, according to a press release from Salvation Army Lt. Richard Mahida.
Mahida said he and his wife Kendall are the new pastors and administrators of the local chapter of the Salvation Army, and “we are thrilled to be part of this wonderful community and are eager to serve our neighbors.”
The organization is asking for donations of non-perishable canned goods, as well as pasta, rice and other grains, breakfast cereals and oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly, juice, and canned meats. Anyone who is unable to donate food items is encouraged to make a donation to help the organization stock the shelves.
Donations can be dropped off at the organization’s Lebanon location (1031 Guilford St.) Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Your contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference in the lives of those in need,” Mahida said in the release. “Together, we can make sure everyone has access to nutritious food. Let’s fill these shelves and fill empty stomachs!”
