Update 4:45 p.m. – Via an update to the original incident report, South Lebanon Township Police said the toddler is now considered to be in critical condition.
South Lebanon Township Police are investigating a dog attack that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 10.
The department said an officer was dispatched Tuesday at around 4:38 a.m. to a township residence for a report of a dog attack.
Upon arrival, the officer found that two dogs had attacked a 22-month-old boy while he was at a babysitter’s home.
Police said the toddler was airlifted to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he is in stable but “guarded” condition.
The dogs are not a threat to the community, South Lebanon Township Police said in a statement, and the incident remains under investigation.
WGAL is reporting that six Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs and one Basset Hound live in the home, and that the babysitter had been providing care to the boy for about a year.
