Family members of former Cornwall Borough councilman Steve Tribioli were victims in a Saturday, Dec. 28, shooting that took place in Calhoun County, West Virginia.

Tribioli had moved to Grantsville, West Virginia, earlier this year with his wife, Jo Dee, whom he married in January.

According to West Virginia State Police, Jo Dee Tribioli, 51, and her aunt Carol Heagy of Mount Gretna, 71, were killed in the shooting.

Steve Tribioli, 55, was shot and is currently in critical condition.

Claude Heagy, Jo Dee’s uncle, 66, of Mount Gretna, was also shot and is currently in stable condition.

Troopers arrested Steve’s son, 28-year-old Noah Richard Tribioli, in Fayette County later Saturday over the shooting. Noah Tribioli has been arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of malicious wounding, and two counts of attempt to commit a felony.

Noah Tribioli is reported to have lived in Columbia, Lancaster County.

Local media has reported that law enforcement were first advised of a shooting incident at 5957 Pine Creek Road in Grantsville at approximately 8:28 a.m. Saturday.

The first law enforcement officer to respond was Calhoun County Sheriff Graham Knight, who arrived around 9 a.m. and discovered Jo Dee Tribioli and Carol Heagy both dead from apparent gunshot wounds, and Steve Tribioli and Claude Heagy both alive but suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The investigation was turned over to West Virginia State Police troopers, who were able to interview Claude Heagy and identify Noah Tribioli as a suspect. According to a report by FOX 43, Heagy told police that Noah Tribioli entered the house that morning and began shooting all the people inside.

West Virginia State Police then issued a statewide “be on the look out” (BOLO) advisory for Tribioli, who was apprehended near Hico, in Fayette County, some 90 miles away.

The most recent reports indicate that Steve Tribioli and Claude Heagy are being treated for their injuries at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Carol Heagy was an employee at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, retiring in 2015.

Steve Tribioli is a former Cornwall Borough councilman who worked for eight years as a school resource officer at Cornwall-Lebanon School District, serving from December 2015 to October 2023.

“In the midst of this tragic event, our thoughts are with his family, and we pray for his speedy recovery,” said Dr. Philip Domencic, CLSD superintendent, in a statement.

Cornwall Borough manager Cody Rhoads said the borough is keeping Steve and the others involved in Saturday’s tragic event in their thoughts.

“We also understand that there are many in our community who were impacted by what transpired and we’ll be thinking of them as they navigate the difficult process of grieving and healing,” said Rhoads.

Borough Council president Bruce Harris, who was formerly chief of the Cornwall Borough Police Department, said he has known Steve for most of the 55-year-old’s life.

“It’s certainly a tragic situation,” said Harris. “I have known Steve since he was probably about 6 years old, when I started in Cornwall. He served one term on council from 2018 to 2021, and certainly our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and also with the Heagys.”

According to court records, Noah Tribioli is currently being held at Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility in Braxton County, West Virginia, in lieu of a $500,000 bail bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7.

Tribioli is currently being represented by a Calhoun County public defender.

West Virginia State Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
