The Community Health Council of Lebanon County today announced the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count will be held the afternoon and evening of January 22, 2025, concluding mid-morning on the 23rd. Teams of volunteers will canvas designated areas around the county to connect with unsheltered individuals and families.
A Point-In-Time (PIT) Count provides an estimate of homelessness in a community by tallying those who are unsheltered on a specific night. This snapshot of homelessness helps communities measure their progress in reducing homelessness and connect people in need to services. Lebanon County’s most recent Count was held in August 2024.
“The Point-In-Time Count is an excellent opportunity to ensure that we are receiving the right amount of aid to provide the support needed in Lebanon County by making that human connection and reminding folks that there is help available,” explained Mike Ritter, Lebanon County Coalition to End Homelessness Co-Chair.
“Volunteers are key to making the PIT Count successful,” said Laurie Funk, 2025 PIT Count Coordinator. “No experience is required. Professionals will train and support the volunteers. All you have to do is be willing to help. The more volunteers we have, the more ground we can cover.” Individuals and teams are encouraged to sign up at https://communityhealthcouncil.com/homelessness/pit-count/.
In addition to the Homeless Coalition, Lebanon City, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, the Community Health Council, Chestnut Street Community Center and others will support the event.
