At its February meeting, the South Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors addressed the proposed Campbelltown Village Square project and updated residents on recent events.

The board hosted a public workshop meeting to discuss the Campbelltown Village Square project on Jan. 22. Representatives from developer Ethos Residential presented the proposed plans, which include a 55,855-square-foot apartment complex, at the workshop meeting.

The project would span 15.15 acres and connect U.S. Route 322 and Lawn Road.

Residents generally had concerns about the project, with traffic being one specific area of concern.

At the supervisors’ meeting this month, the board discussed its opinions on the proposal.

“The township, at least since I’ve been on the board, [has] been mindful of a balance between how we grow and what we do and character and nature of Campbelltown. … I had several concerns about the project,” supervisor William Bova said.

Supervisors Faith Bucks and Jack Custer shared Bova’s concerns. The board noted that the current plans would cause issues throughout Campbelltown.

“As is I could not support the project,” Bova said.

Ethos Residential has not submitted any materials to start the project formally. Solicitor Patrick Armstrong noted that, if the project were to move forward, the next step would be the proposal of a zoning amendment.

South Londonderry Township manager John Eberly made several important announcements at this month’s meeting.

Eberly reported that Mount Gretna residents will not receive sewer bills with the annual Lebanon County real estate tax bill in 2025 as they did in 2024.

Affected residents will receive a separate bill from the township. Despite this change, residents will see the same due dates and discounts as 2024.

Additionally, residents located near the Sunoco pipeline should note that the company will be performing inspections throughout the next several weeks. Those affected have been notified by the township.

In other news, the board unanimously moved to:

  • Recommend Nicholas Mansberger for the Municipal Sewer Authority vacancy.
  • Approve the financial security reduction for 2400 S. Forge Road. The remaining amount is $7,867.91 per Rettew Engineering’s Jan. 30 letter.
  • Approve a COSTARS bid of $14,160.80 for the replacement of several PCs for the South Londonderry Township Police Department. The purchase will include eight laptops and two desktop computers.
  • Deny the application submitted to fill the Historical Commission vacancy. The board will regroup with current commission members to align on goals moving forward before filling the vacancy.
  • Approve the January reorganization, regular and workshop meeting minutes.
  • Approve bill and payroll lists 01-25 and 02-25.

Supervisors also heard the following updates:

  • The zoning hearing board will meet on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in the township building to discuss a proposed cell tower near In The Net Sports Complex.
  • The police department donated about 650 pounds of food that was leftover from Operation Fill A Cruiser to the Lebanon Rescue Mission.
  • Campbelltown Community Alliance member Jamie Miller reported that CCA will host a movie night at Campbelltown Community Park on Saturday, June 7.

The South Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are held in the municipal building at 27 W. Market St. and are open to the public. Next month’s board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11.
