St. Luke’s Episcopal Church had so much fun last year, they’re doing it again! Join St. Luke’s for a special Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday, March 1.
The evening will include a church fundraising pancake supper, including sausage, for just $10, or $5 for children under 10, hosted by the ECW at 5:30 p.m., followed by a special five-piece Dixieland Jazz concert by Ben Mauger’s Vintage Jazz Band at 7 p.m. in the Nave. After the concert, St. Luke’s will have a king cake reception in the auditorium. There is no cost or registration for the concert or the reception.
Visit www.stlukesbazaar.org/mardi-gras.html to order pancake supper tickets.
(The name “king cake” comes from the biblical story of the three kings who bring gifts to baby Jesus. A blend of coffee cake and cinnamon roll, king cake is usually iced in yellow, green, and purple – the colors of Mardi Gras. Hidden within these season sweets also lie a special surprise: a plastic king cake baby. King cake is first served on Three Kings Day and lasts through the eve of Mardi Gras to celebrate the coming of the three kings.)
