The board of the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (CTC) unanimously agreed to hire Fidevia Construction Management and Consulting to consult with Beers + Hoffman as they conduct a feasibility study.
CTC director Chuck Benton said the consultation will help the CTC “progress a little quicker through this feasibility study.”
Benton explained that the consultation will allow Beers + Hoffman to get a second opinion on the cost of proposed items.
The Fidevia contract includes different rates for different types of consulting, ranging from general clerical at $60 per hour to $215 for risk/claim analysis and mitigation strategies. Estimating and cost analysis range from $95 to $120.
Darren Grumbine, representing Annville-Cleona School District, said he does not have a problem with the consultation, but that it should not take the place of work Beers + Hoffman has been hired to do.
He said he expects Beers + Hoffman to come forward with multiple proposals and options for the board. “I don’t think them presenting us one idea with a few little options here and there is worth the money,” said Grumbine.
The feasibility study, which was approved in April of last year, will assess facility needs and curriculum for high school students.

Grumbine said that the Annville-Cleona School Board has “felt the unpredictability of remodel,” stating that he expects other school boards may feel the same.

Benton said that he hopes the consultation will bring the feasibility study to a close sooner. He also explained that the building authority will have the ultimate say in what option is selected, but communication between boards will iron out details.
In other news, the board heard details of the planned budget for the 2024-25 school year.
With total contributions from school districts of around $6.5 million, contributions from Lebanon, Cornwall-Lebanon, and Annville-Cleona school districts are planned to increase.
Business administrator Tina Geyer explained that district contributions are determined based on a combination of enrollment and CTC and enrollment at the home school, over three- and five-year periods.
The budget will be reviewed by individual school boards before official approval.
