The Lebanon Community Library and the Lebanon Elks Lodge 631 will present the third annual Elks Reading Program in honor of Lt. William Lebo.
This free community event will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Lebanon Community Library, 125 N. 7th St., Lebanon.
Families are invited to enjoy a morning of stories, crafts, and community spirit, according to a press release from the library. Officers from the Lebanon Police Department will serve as special guest readers, sharing their favorite books with children in attendance.
In addition to the storytime sessions, children will have an opportunity to participate in a craft activity and take home free books and school supplies provided by the Lebanon Elks.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this event again this year, honoring Lt. Lebo and his service to our community,” library executive director Michelle Hawk said in the release. “Lt. Lebo was a guest storyteller during the library’s Summer Learning Programs, so it’s nice to continue sharing his love of reading and the community.”
The Elks Reading Program is made possible through a grant from the Elks National Foundation, secured annually by Matt Dubbs of Lodge 631.
“The mission of the Elks National Foundation is to help Elks build stronger communities. This program helps to develop the lifelong skill and joy of reading,” Dubbs said in the release. “As an Elk, I believe that charity is the greatest of all virtues. This program embodies one of Lt. William Lebo’s favorite community activities.”
The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
