A man was shot and wounded Sunday afternoon in Lebanon’s south side, with police apprehending a suspect within hours of the incident.

The shooting occurred around 1:35 p.m. on the 200 block of South 10th Street, according to a news release by Lebanon city police.

Officers responding to reports of gunfire found a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he is in critical condition.

Police arrested 32-year-old Lebanon resident Francisco Padilla as a suspect at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Sunday. Padilla has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm, all felonies.

Padilla was arraigned on Monday morning in front of Magisterial District Judge Maria Dissinger. He is being held at Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, which was set at $1,000,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26.

Police said no further details will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the investigation, which is being led by Detective Dory Martin. Police said additional charges may be filed at a later time. Police previously said that investigators had determined the shooting was not random, as the suspect and victim were acquainted with each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Martin or submit a tip through CrimeWatch.
