Our goal is to have an amazing event with the best course around and raise $50,000 for Gretna Glen’s “Pathways to the Future” finance initiative. Wool Feather Tree Class with Amy Scheg at Isaac Meier Homestead

$55.00 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, September 13 | 524 S. College St., Myerstown

A “wool feather tree” is a modern, artificial Christmas tree crafted from strips of felted wool that are fringed and attached to wires, which are then wrapped around a central dowel to form branches, mimicking the appearance of an early Victorian-era “feather tree” made from dyed animal feathers.

Unlike the original goose and turkey feather trees, the wool version offers a more textured, felted look and is a popular craft for the holidays.

Within this class, participants will create an 18-20” wool feather tree. Students will learn to rip and cut wool fringe, apply it to wire with a hot glue gun, and wrap it with floral tape. No special skills are needed. All materials and equipment will be provided. There will be a choice of green wools available. If you would like a color other than green, please register by Saturday, Sept. 6.

The class fee is $55.00. Bring a lunch.
