South Londonderry Township supervisors unanimously voted at their Nov. 12 meeting to advertise their 2026 proposed budget.

Board chair Faith Bucks told LebTown after the meeting that the proposed budget does not contain a tax increase on township residents in 2026.

Compared to the 2025 budget, there is an estimated increase from $999,000 to just over $1 million in real estate tax revenue. Additionally, local enabling revenue — including local services tax and real estate transfer tax — is estimated to remain the same at $1.8 million.

Bucks said projected costs are not increasing on the township and is why there will not be a tax increase. A supervisor for the past 10 years, she added when asked about the last real estate tax increase that none have occurred within the municipality since she’s been elected to the board of supervisors.

The tentative budget shows total projected revenue of $3.91 million and total anticipated expenditures of $4.15 million, a loss of just over $242,600 during 2026.

Township audit

In other news, supervisors unanimously hired the certified public accounting firm of Garcia, Garman & Shea PC of Lebanon to conduct the municipality’s 2025 audit.

Business manager John Eberly said the cost went up by about $200 from last year to $11,075, adding the township is grateful for their continuing relationship with the firm. He said a lot of other municipalities are having difficulties hiring licensed auditors who are willing to perform that work.

“This is really good to be able to have somebody in our backyard who is able to come in here and do a good job,” Eberly said. “We want to get them on board so I can go ahead and start the preliminary audit before the end of the year starts.”

In other unanimous actions, supervisors voted to:

  • Receive a report from resident Pat Krebs about a township newsletter.
  • Review a contract for five years with Executive Image for 24/7 IT support.
  • Agree to sell a highway dump truck at the Grantville Auto Auction.
  • Visit with Santa Claus will be on Dec. 1 at Palmyra Library. Visit the library’s website for registration information and more details.
  • Agree to pay bills and the township payroll.
  • Approve the minutes of their Oct. 14 meeting and the Oct. 22 workshop session.

The board of supervisors announced on the agenda that a planned workshop session on Nov. 26 will most likely be cancelled since there currently is nothing to discuss at the session. The next supervisors meeting is on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the township building at 27 W. Main St., Palmyra.
