The Pennsylvania National Guard has invited members of the public to its annual tree lighting ceremony, reception, and food drive at the community club at Fort Indiantown Gap.
The family-friendly community event will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the community club on base, according to an email from Major Travis Mueller, public affairs officer for the Pennsylvania National Guard. (The community club is located at 9-65 Fisher Avenue on FTIG.)
The event is scheduled to end at 7 p.m.
“Please help support our soldiers in need and their families by dropping off canned and non-perishable food items during the reception,” organizers said in a release.

Although a schedule of events was not included with the announcement, last year’s event included remarks by Acting Brigadier General John R. Pippy of the Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs, a visit from Santa Claus, a Christmas Candy Cane Color Guard, refreshments, and a performance by the Northern Lebanon Elementary School chorus, backed by the nine-piece 28th Infantry Division Band, as well as the annual lighting of a large evergreen tree decorated with red, white and blue lights.
