LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

Our Pet of the Week sometimes is a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the weekly column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet adoptable Peaches!

Peaches is a young Akita, estimated to be around 3 or 4 years old and weighs about 70 pounds, a shelter rep at the Humane Society of Lebanon County told LebTown. Although she’s currently living in a foster home, she’s looking for a home that’s hers forever.

“With a heart of gold and silly personality to match, she loves to talk and will make you laugh everyday,” the shelter rep said. “Peaches … is your all around great girl; she is the kind of dog who’s always down for a game of fetch or a Netflix marathon – whatever you’re into, she is your girl.

“She enjoys affection from her human friends and loves butt scratches! Peaches is food and treat motivated, making her not only a fast learner but also a total joy to train. She LOVES toys and proudly carries them around the house or backyard like a prized treasure.”

Peaches “loves kids,” the rep noted, “but because of her size and enthusiasm we think she would do best with dog-savvy kids aged 8 years or older. Peaches has the potential to live with other dogs in her new home but no cats for this girl. A meet and greet would take place at the shelter to ensure it is a good match.”

If you are interested in adopting Peaches, please fill out the adoption application online at lebanonhumane.org or call the Humane Society at 717-628-1369 for more information.
