Organizers of Historic Old Annville Day have begun soliciting vendors and nonprofit organizations to populate the setting of this year’s event.
Historic Old Annville Day, which traditionally is held on the second Saturday of June, is scheduled this year for June 13. For the second year, the event will be held on the campus of Lebanon Valley College “due to bridge and road closures and surrounding issues,” according to an email from Friends of Old Annville committee chairman Doug Nyce.
“This year, due to continuing traffic detour issues, the event will not take place in the National Historic District, but will again be set in the historic Lebanon Valley College campus in the shadow of the 1905 Humanities building and the 1904 former Carnegie Library on both College Avenue and Sheridan Avenue,” Nyce said in the email.
The event, now in its 37th year, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is run by the Friends of Old Annville, a nonprofit community organization.
Previously held in historic downtown Annville, officials in previous years closed Route 422 for the festival and redirected traffic to Clear Spring Road. However, North Annville Township has barred tractor-trailers longer than 43 feet from using Clear Spring Road, and township supervisors last year denied a waiver request for the event.
Organizers also approached South Annville Township about using Mount Pleasant Road and Reigerts Lane but decided the option was unworkable because of significant manpower, signage, and liability insurance requirements.
Reservations for spots at the event are due by May 1. Spaces are 15 feet wide and 10 feet deep and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is due along with the application, Nyce said.
For-profit vendors must pay a $50 fee to reserve a space, or $70 if they are selling food. Nonprofit and service organizations are asked for a minimum $15 contribution to help defray the organizers’ costs. “This is a perfect opportunity to showcase your organization and solicit donations,” Nyce said in an email to nonprofit vendors.
The event is held rain or shine along both sides of College and Sheridan avenues. Fees are non-refundable.
