The Annville-Cleona school board approved a service agreement with Lancaster General Medical Service at its March 9 meeting to provide personalized care for staff members who participate.
Superintendent Krista Antonis said all staff members enrolled in the district healthcare plan are eligible to enroll.
“Offering an employer-sponsored healthcare clinic can significantly improve employee health and productivity while reducing overall healthcare costs and absenteeism,” she said in an email after the meeting.
The minimum cost for the district increases each year, Antonis said, with year one being $38,250, year two being $56,100, and year three being $61,200. That bill could increase if more staff members sign up and participate.
The only cost for staff members is for medication, which Antonis said could range from $2 to $15. If they don’t require medication, there is no cost.
Annville-Cleona’s agreement with Lancaster General Medical Service is similar to several other Lebanon County school districts, such as Cornwall-Lebanon and Northern Lebanon.
These districts cited the personalized membership-based care as a way to keep staff healthy and to stay ahead of health issues before they become emergent. There are seven clinics within the system in Lancaster, and a new care center in Lebanon County.
“Feedback has been positive as it is a nice perk for staff members on the healthcare plan with little to no out-of-pocket costs for them,” Antonis said.
In other business, the school board:
- Discussed and came to the conclusion that they will be livestreaming their future meetings so residents can watch the proceedings live.
- Heard a report that the 2026 mini-THON raised over $70,000 for the Four Diamonds nonprofit.
- Approved an agreement between the district and CM3 Building Solutions for increased access control security at the secondary school, at a cost not to exceed $214,873, utilizing grant funding.
- Approved an agreement with PSBA Insurance Trust for the BUCS Basic Program to provide unemployment compensation services at a rate not to exceed $1,600.
- Approved the Math Bridges Intervention program for the 2026-27 school year at a cost not to exceed $3,777.84.
- Voted in favor of all other fiscal, personnel, program, policy, and other items listed in the agenda.
The Annville-Cleona school board will meet next in the district office board room on April 13 at 6 p.m. for a work session. The next regular board meeting will be on April 20 at 6 p.m.
