The South Lebanon Township Board of Supervisors opened two bids for paving work at Tuesday’s meeting as the township prepares for its summer road projects.
Paving this summer is scheduled to take place in the following areas:
- East Evergreen Road – from JayAnn Drive to just east of the car wash
- Larkspur Lane – full length of the road
- Edgewood Drive – full length of the road
- Margin Road – full length of the road
- Clover Drive – from East Evergreen Road to Edgewood Drive
- Monticello Drive – from South Lincoln Avenue to just west of Cambridge Drive
- Cambridge Drive – from Monticello Drive to north of Oxford Drive
- Oxford Drive – full length of the road
The two bids were from Enterprise for $421,522.54 and from Pennsy Supply for $413,006.01. The board will review and tabulate the bids before making a decision on which to accept at its next meeting.
The board also approved an agreement involving the Central PA Tool Library, which is anticipated to open this spring at 480 Vine Street, Suite 3, Lebanon. The Central PA Tool Library provides community access to tools, instruction in basic repairs, making techniques and related educational programming, through the purchase of a membership.
The board had applied for a local share account (LSA) grant, on behalf of the organization, and the grant administrator provided the agreement, explained township manager Jamie Yiengst.
The board then reviewed an email from a community member who expressed opposition to the board’s approval of the 287(g) ICE agreement at its previous meeting.
“I’ll just reiterate it, we have multiple agreements with agencies at all levels, school, state, local police departments, they are similar in nature,” said board Chairman Stephen Krause.
In other business, the board:
- Announced South Hills Park will open for the season on March 16.
- Unanimously approved several park usage requests for the spring and summer months.
- Unanimously voted to make a $250 donation to the America250 celebration happening at the Lebanon Valley Fairgrounds on July 4.
- Unanimously approved the purchase of new parts to fix the ODB leaf vacuum.
- Unanimously voted Vice Chairman Jonathan Beers as the board’s representative for the fire department building committee.
- Unanimously approved hiring two applicants to work at the park, pending background checks.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m., at 1800 S. 5th Ave., Lebanon. Meetings are open to the public.
