The Jackson Township Board of Supervisors approved contracts with companies for two bridges set to receive improvements.

Following engineer Steve Sherk’s recommendation, the board approved a contract of $110,000 with Axis Stabilization to provide certified engineering and design and to complete work on the South Ramona Road bridge. A shotcrete soil mound solution will be added to the bridge’s wing wall that showed instability, Sherk explained.

The board also voted to approve a contract of $57,982.72 to CriLon Corp. to make improvements to the East Main Avenue bridge.

“This is to address scour issues along the bridge footers and abutments along the channel,” Sherk said. “There’s nothing structurally wrong with the bridge, but we do need to address these issues.”

A county bridge inspector previously identified the issues, placing it on Lebanon County’s list of scour critical bridges.

In other news, the board:

  • Appointed Mike Bollinger to serve as the township’s Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority representative.
  • Granted a request for a fire hydrant tax exemption for Mount Hope Cemetery.
  • Approved a lawn care payment of $12,899.10 to Green Acres Lawn Care for spring, summer, and fall applications.
  • Approved payments of $3,409 to replace a garage door opener unit in the township’s wash bay and $2,040 to replace safety strips for two township trucks.

The Jackson Township Board of Supervisors will meet next on Monday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. at 60 N. Ramona Road. The public is welcome to attend.
