Bethel Township

Theft – On March 20, a business reported that a check had been intercepted, fraudulently altered, and cashed sometime between 8 a.m. Feb. 17 and 11:59 p.m. Feb. 26.

City of Lebanon

Criminal trespass, indecent exposure – On March 20, police responded to the 700 block of Walnut Street in Lebanon for a burglary in progress. The caller reported discovering an unknown man in their home. The suspect fled the scene, but police searched the area and located the suspect, identified as Tyler Randler, 34. Police found Randler wearing only a T-shirt, and he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Police took Randler into custody without incident and charged him with criminal trespass, indecent exposure, open lewdness, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

DUI – At 1:55 a.m. March 21, a 46-year-old Lebanon man operated a gray 2022 Toyota RAV4 on Willow Street while under the influence of alcohol. Police charged him with DUI.

Robbery – Around 4 p.m. March 25, police responded to a reported theft on the 1200 block of Walnut Street. The victim was walking and using a cellphone when an unknown man grabbed the phone and fled the scene. Police identified the suspect as Robert Fernandez-Roman, 49, and charged him with robbery.

Heidelberg Township

Identity theft – At 9:53 a.m. March 20, a 27-year-old Schaefferstown woman reported being scammed after providing identity information to another party. The woman stopped further actions once she became suspicious, then contacted the Social Security office, her credit bureau to freeze/lock credit information, and her financial institution.

Jackson Township

Vehicle accident – At 2:47 a.m. Feb. 22, a red 2003 Ford Explorer driven by a 26-year-old Lebanon woman, accompanied by a 24-year-old Womelsdorf woman, was traveling east on the 400 block of Elco Drive when it exited the road while negotiating a left curve, struck an embankment on the right shoulder, and rolled over. The driver fled the scene. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and the extent of her injuries is unknown. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained a possible injury, and was transported via Myerstown First Aid Unit to Hershey Medical Center. Police charged the driver with driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Vehicle accident, DUI – At 10:57 p.m. Feb. 22, a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Shawn Kurtz, 34, of Myerstown, was traveling south on the 500 block of Weavertown Road when Kurtz lost control. The Chevy exited the road, launching into the air over a retaining wall and striking three parked vehicles: a 2006 Ford Econoline E250, a 2021 Nissan Rogue, and a 2012 Nissan Frontier. The Chevy sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Zimmeys. Kurtz was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries but was evaluated by EMS and cleared. Kurtz was found to be under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody for a legal blood draw.

Vehicle accident – Around 6:33 p.m. March 11, a 2007 Dodge driven by a 22-year-old Womelsdorf woman was traveling east on East Lincoln Highway at Millardsville Road when a 2017 Nissan driven by a 62-year-old Myerstown woman, accompanied by a 67-year-old Myerstown man, turned south on Millardsville Road from the westbound turning lane on Lincoln Highway. The Dodge struck the Nissan in the intersection. The driver of the Nissan was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained a suspected minor injury, but was not transported. The driver of the Dodge was wearing a seatbelt, sustained a suspected minor injury, and was taken by Myerstown First Aid Unit to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and sustained a suspected minor injury, but was not transported. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed. Myerstown Fire and Fire Police assisted on the scene.

Lebanon County Regional

Drug possession – On Jan. 4, police responded to the 500 block of Weavertown Road in North Lebanon Township for a subject smoking synthetic marijuana. Police found Felix Rivera-Figueroa, 38, passed out in the basement of the home still clutching the smoking device in his hand. Police also found Rivera-Figueroa to be in possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance (synthetic marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. Police charged Rivera-Figueroa with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI, drug possession – Around 2:23 a.m. Jan. 11, police stopped a vehicle on the 3300 block of Tunnel Hill Road in North Lebanon Township for a traffic violation and found that the driver, Cindy Cabezas-Bonilla, 40, was under the influence of a controlled substance. Police also found a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Upon the receipt of her blood results, police charged her with misdemeanor DUI-controlled substance, misdemeanor DUI-alcohol or controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and disregard of traffic lane. Police also found that the passenger, Luis Javier-Alcantara, 34, was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and charged him with misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Retail theft – Around 6:47 p.m. March 3, police responded to Walmart in North Lebanon Township for a retail theft. Police learned that the suspect, Khaffak Ansari, 59, provided Walmart personnel with his identification before fleeing the store. Police confirmed that Ansari stole merchandise valued at $190.28 from the store before he was stopped by Walmart employees. Police discovered that Ansari had two prior convictions for retail theft. Police charged Ansari with felony retail theft.

Retail theft – Police investigated a retail theft that occurred at 5:15 p.m. March 10 at Target in North Cornwall Township. Police said a 28-year-old man stole merchandise from the store and charged him with summary retail theft.

Retail theft – At 5:05 p.m. March 17, police responded to Boscov’s in West Lebanon Township for a retail theft. Police said Franderick Abreu-Duran, 23, conspired with Aldis Baez-Pimentel, 29, to select and conceal merchandise valued at $434.99. Police charged Abreu-Duran with misdemeanor conspiracy-retail theft and Baez-Pimentel with misdemeanor retail theft and misdemeanor conspiracy-retail theft.

Bench warrant served – At 12:54 a.m. March 18, police located a wanted subject, Abimael Pagan-Vera, 40, on the 700 block of East Lehman Street in Lebanon. Pagan-Vera had an arrest warrant out of the Lebanon County Sheriff’s Department, and police took Pagan-Vera into custody and transported him to LCCB.

Curfew violation – At 2:43 a.m. March 18, police pulled over a vehicle on the 1600 block of Chestnut Street in North Cornwall Township. Police identified one of the passengers as a 15-year-old girl who was violating curfew. Police released the juvenile to a parent and charged her with a curfew violation.

Purchase, consumption, etc. of alcohol – On March 21, police pulled over a vehicle at North 16th and West Cumberland streets in North Cornwall Township for a red light violation. The 16-year-old male driver was found to be in possession of open alcohol containers. Police contacted the juvenile’s parents and charged him with summary purchase, consumption, etc. of alcohol, summary restrictions on alcoholic beverages, summary traffic-control signals, and summary learners’ permit.

North Londonderry Township

Drug possession – On Feb. 23, police pulled over a vehicle on the 1100 block of West Main Street for a suspended registration. During the stop, police developed probable cause to secure a search warrant for the vehicle. As a result of the search, police charged Bailey Beamesderfer, 23, of Palmyra, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operation following suspension of registration.

Drug possession – On March 23, police charged a 16-year-old Palmyra male with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found in possession of a THC vape device while at Palmyra Area High School on Feb. 23.

Vehicle accident – At 4:39 p.m. March 23, a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Palmyra woman was traveling south on South Forge Road, approaching East Elm Street, when a vehicle driven by an 88-year-old Marysville man pulled out from a stop sign on East Elm and they collided. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

South Lebanon Township

Unsworn falsification to authorities – On Nov. 17, Sara Kendig, 34, of Annville, attempted to purchase a firearm at Shyda’s Outdoor Center in Lebanon. Police determined that Kendig was not legally permitted to do so and charged Kendig with misdemeanor unsworn falsification to authorities.

DUI – Around 3 a.m. March 8, a 26-year-old Lebanon man operated a black 2021 Jeep Cherokee on Prescott Road while under the influence of alcohol. Police charged him with DUI.

Resisting arrest, criminal trespass, DUI – Around 11:02 p.m. March 14, police pulled over a vehicle on the 500 block of East Walnut Street in Lebanon and found that the driver, Perla Martinez-Lugo, 29, of Reading, had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating the vehicle. Martinez-Lugo refused to submit to field sobriety testing and was taken into custody. Martinez-Lugo was transported to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital for BAC testing, which she also refused. Martinez-Lugo was subsequently released from custody and was advised to leave the hospital. Martinez-Lugo refused and caused a disturbance. When police attempted to take Martinez-Lugo into custody, she actively resisted. Police charged Martinez-Lugo with misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor criminal trespass, and misdemeanor DUI-incapable of safe driving.

Drug possession, driving without a license – Around 8:35 p.m. March 17, police pulled over a vehicle on the 2600 block of East King Street in Lebanon and determined that the driver, Andrea Breen, 19, of Myerstown, was in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and did not possess a valid driver’s license. Police charged Breen with misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana, misdemeanor possession/use of drug paraphernalia, summary drivers without a license, and summary general lighting requirements.

PFA order violation – Around 8:18 a.m. March 25, police responded to the 00 block of Horse Avenue in Lebanon for a domestic disturbance. Police determined that Luis Rosario-Diaz, 30, was in violation of an active Protection from Abuse order issued by the Lebanon County Court of Common Pleas. Rosario-Diaz is accused of threatening and striking another person. Police charged Rosario-Diaz with misdemeanor contempt for violation of a Protection from Abuse order.

Aggressive driving enforcement underway – South Lebanon Township Police, in partnership with Pennsylvania State Police and about 300 municipal agencies, will conduct targeted aggressive driving enforcement now through April 26. The goal of this initiative is to reduce aggressive driving-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities across the state. Drivers observed engaging in aggressive behavior will be stopped and cited.

Enforcement efforts will focus on speeding, distracted driving, and work zone safety. Additional violations, such as following too closely and driving too fast for conditions, will also be enforced.

This enforcement is part of Pennsylvania’s Highway Safety Program and is funded through PennDOT using federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. For more information on aggressive driving, visit PennDOT.pa.gov/Safety.

South Londonderry Township

Possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license – At 1:31 p.m. March 20, police pulled over a silver/aluminum 2020 Ford Explorer driven by Peter Lewis, 29, of Philadelphia, on the 2600 block of I-76 East for multiple traffic violations. During the stop, police observed indicators of criminal activity and asked Lewis to exit the vehicle and if he was armed. Lewis exited the vehicle and claimed he did not have any weapons; however, during a consensual pat down, police located a concealed loaded handgun on Lewis’s waistline. Police secured the handgun and detained Lewis. Police found Lewis to be a person not to possess based on prior criminal convictions. During a consent search on Lewis’s vehicle, police located and seized a small amount of marijuana. Police charged Lewis with possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and summary traffic violations. Police transported Lewis to LCCB for arraignment.

Vehicle accident – At 5:27 p.m. March 20, police responded to the area of Mount Wilson and Harvest roads for a crash. Police said a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Annville woman rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Elizabethtown man as it slowed to turn onto Harvest Road. No injuries were reported.

Found property – At 4 p.m. March 25, at-home cycling equipment was turned in to South Londonderry Township Police. The property, which was contained in a protective black box, was identified as a smart device that attaches to a bicycle. The individual who turned in the property said it was found in the area of Lawn and Elizabethtown roads. Police were unable to identify the owner. Anyone who believes they may be missing the property is encouraged to contact South Londonderry Township Police.

Western Lebanon County Regional

Simple assault, disorderly conduct – Charges of misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct (engage in fighting), and summary harassment (physical contact) were filed against Warren Lyons, 67, and Michael Campbell, 69, after a road rage incident at 1:49 p.m. Feb. 14 on the 600 block of West Main Street in Palmyra.

Bench warrant served, traffic violations – Around 8:28 p.m. March 24, police pulled over a silver Mercedes on the 200 block of East Main Street in Annville. Police identified the driver as Thomas Gardner, 38, who was wanted out of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department for failure to appear. Additionally, police charged Gardner with summary unlawful activities and summary fraudulent inspection/emissions stickers. Police took Gardner into custody on the warrant and transported him to Lancaster County.

Simple assault, harassment – At 9:12 a.m. March 25, police observed an active domestic disturbance on the 100 block of South Forge Road in Palmyra. Police identified one of the subjects as April Knoche, 29, and determined that Knoche assaulted another subject, causing injuries. Police arrested Knoche on charges of misdemeanor simple assault (domestic violence-related) and summary harassment. Police transported Knoche to LCCB, where she was eventually released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Pennsylvania State Police

Liquor Code violations – Amvets Post No. 293 Home Association, 2074 Route 72 N., Lebanon, was cited by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, Harrisburg District Enforcement Office, in March. The establishment failed to operate small games of chance in conformity with the Small Games of Chance Act and Title 61 of the Pennsylvania Code in that it conducted unlawful raffles and offered multiple prizes for weekly drawings, in violation of the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act and Department of Revenue regulations. The establishment also submitted an annual report that did not include all required information or included false or inaccurate information in violation of the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act. The establishment also failed to adhere to constitution and/or bylaws, in violation of the Liquor Control Board regulations and permitted smoking in a public place where smoking is prohibited, in violation of the Liquor Code and the Clean Indoor Air Act.

Statewide enforcement initiative – State police, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, will conduct a statewide enforcement initiative in April on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to target aggressive driving and motorists operating vehicles with suspended registrations due to unpaid turnpike tolls and fees.

Troopers will enforce the Vehicle Code, with a focus on drivers with suspended registrations and unsafe driving behaviors, as well as violations such as speeding, reckless driving, following too closely, improper passing and turning, failure to obey traffic control devices, unsafe lane changes, occupant protection violations, and driving while operating privilege is suspended.

Enforcement actions may include traffic citations and fines. Vehicles operated with suspended registrations may also be subject to towing. Troopers will utilize license plate recognition technology to assist in identifying violators.

This initiative is intended to improve roadway safety by reducing aggressive driving behaviors and ensuring compliance with Pennsylvania Turnpike tolling requirements.
