The Myerstown Easter Egg Hunt, canceled due to a lack of preparation time, is back on and rescheduled for April 4, borough council president Daniel Ebling announced Saturday.

The hunt is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Myerstown Recreation Area. Council had agreed to cancel the event at its March 25 workshop, citing insufficient time to fill roughly 4,000 eggs with candy and handle other logistics with just two days before the planned March 28 date, as LebTown previously reported.

Following community feedback, Ebling said efforts are underway to hold the event on its rain date. He has been designated to oversee coordination, including volunteers, donations and logistics.

“There has been a significant response from the community expressing how important this event is to local families,” Ebling said.

The hunt will feature age groups for 0-2 years, 3-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-11 years.

The borough is seeking volunteers and donations to make the event happen. Donations should be made payable to the Borough of Myerstown for tracking purposes, and volunteers can contact Ebling at Debling.myerstowncouncil@gmail.com.

Ebling also said no private events are authorized on borough property without prior approval, noting that the hunt will remain an official borough function despite some discussion of outside groups organizing an alternative.

Council holds its regular meeting the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 101 S. Railroad St.
