Alexandra Kerr Megenity (Sandy), 77, of Harrisburg, passed away on April 24, 2021, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home. Born Tuesday, July 27, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Faith (Alexander) Kerr. She was married 52 years to her loving husband, James R. Megenity.
Sandy was a graduate of New Ulm High School in Minnesota. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from The University of Minnesota, where she was also an active member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. An elementary school teacher, she taught 25 years in the Middletown Area School District. She was beloved by all of her students and coworkers alike. Following retirement, she went on to find the greatest joy in her life in becoming “Nanny” to her four grandchildren and even a few spoiled grand-pets.
In addition to her husband James, she is survived by two daughters, Molly Acri and husband Chip, and Mandy Lick and husband Jay, four grandchildren, Jillian and Colby Acri, and Reilly and Max Lick, a brother Robert Kerr and wife Sue, and nieces and nephews.Â
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Faith, and her sister, Kathryn Kerr Danner.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 at 12:30 p.m. There will be no viewing. Visitation with family will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a brief service. The service will be live-streamed at https://youtu.be/JKZzoXAqNWo.
A private burial will be held with the family at Hershey Cemetery. Strict Covid guidelines with masks and social distancing will be followed.
