Alfred Earl Minnich, 76, of Fredericksburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly while recovering from ankle surgery following a fall on Thanksgiving Day.
Born in Lebanon, PA, Alfred was the son of the late Roy and Ethel (Witters) Minnich. He was married to his devoted wife, Ruth (Kreiser) Minnich, for 55 years.
Alfred worked for many years at Lebanon Steel Foundry until its closing and later at AWI in Robesonia, where he remained until his retirement. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
Alfred and Ruth raced homing pigeons and bowled on league together for many years, pastimes they both enjoyed deeply, forming many lasting friendships along the way. He also loved fishing at Indian River Inlet in Delaware and deer hunting.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Ruth Minnich; son, Scott (Kathryn) Minnich; grandchildren, Brett (Somer) Minnich, Cheyann (Nick) Seiple, Billie Jane (Coby) Booth, Tabitha Minnich, and Dustin Smith; Miranda Weidman; and four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Melvin R. (Mary) Minnich, of Milhall, and Shirley M. Minnich, of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ethel Minnich; beloved daughter, Michelle Weidman; and sister, Betty Wealand. Alfred will be remembered for his wit and quiet humor, the way his face lit up when his great-grandbabies entered the room, and the steadfast care he ensured for Michelle’s children following her passing.
Alfred expressed his love by being a steady and dependable provider. Though he may not have worn his heart on his sleeve, those who had the privilege of truly knowing him understood the depth of his love and devotion. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, with the service beginning at 4 p.m. at Kreamer and Lum Funeral Home, Route 72 and Campmeeting Road, Jonestown. There will be a visitation from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
