Allan Lewis Watkins, Sr., 88, of Myerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at ManorCare Health Services, Sinking Spring. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Timmins) Watkins, to whom he was married 64 years on Sept. 15, 2020.
Born in Delano, PA on July 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Lee and Mildred (Rhoades) Watkins. A 1950 graduate of Girard College, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Allan was a member of Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Myerstown. He was employed as a machinist at Moore Products Co., Philadelphia, for over 40 years until his retirement.
Allan enjoyed camping, fishing, football, and hockey. He celebrated that he lived long enough to witness the Philadelphia Eagles win a Super Bowl. Allan never tired of attending a Flyers game when Kate Smith would sing God Bless America, as those were thrilling occasions.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Allan, Jr., husband of Patti Watkins, of Picture Rocks, PA, and Dr. Mark Watkins, husband of Sergei Lataev, of Exton, PA. He was preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
