Alyssa Lynn Austin was born on April 26, 1999, and she passed peacefully in her sleep and grew her angel wings on Feb. 20, 2021.
Alyssa was a 2017 graduate of Cedar Crest High School, she was very active in the athletic community with her participation on the high school basketball team. She was among the few players who scored over 1,000 points in their high school career. Alyssa was also a current student at Penn State and a member of the Penn State Women’s basketball team.
All those that knew Alyssa, knew that basketball was her life, along with her niece and nephew, Callie and Dawson, and her cat, Bacon. They were the light of her life and brought nothing but pure joy and happiness to her. Alyssa had the biggest heart and was always there for anyone who needed it no matter what. She loved everyone and everything with all that she possibly could. Alyssa had a heart of gold and touched the hearts of so many people. This world is never going to be the same without her here, but we know she will always be with us in our hearts and watching over us every single day.
She is survived by her mother, Amy Austin, and stepfather, Eric Beaverson, her father, Dennis Austin, and stepmother Maureen Austin, sister, Ashley Austin, and her fiancé, John Zimmerman, niece, Callie Zimmerman, nephew, Dawson Zimmerman, grandparents, Lloyd and Ruth Seibert, Joe and Connie Heckard, aunt, Jennifer Roberts, cousin, Ashton Pond, her step-siblings, Alissa, Zach, Anna, Zophia, Josh, Jess and Hunter, and her cat, Bacon. Alyssa is also survived by out-of-state grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will be holding a celebration of Alyssa’s life on Sunday, April 25, 2021. They hope that you can join them and celebrate the kind, loving, amazing person that touched so many lives. The details for the celebration of life for Alyssa will come at a later date.
