Ammon James “Jimmy” Bomberger, 75, died on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a loving husband to his wife, Brenda White, to whom he was married 44 years.

Born Dec. 7, 1945, Jim was the son of the late Ammon S. and Myrle I. Bomberger. Jim graduated from Northern Lebanon High School in 1963 and from Elizabethtown College in January 1968 with a B.S. Degree in Secondary Ed. Social Studies. He later became certified in Elementary Ed. at Millersville University. While at Millersville Univ., Jim did Graduate work in Elementary Ed., and earned a Master’s equivalency.

As a youth and young adult, Jim was an active member of Zion’s Lutheran Church in Jonestown. He served as an acolyte, a choir member, and as a member of the church council. Later, Jim was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lebanon, PA. He was a member of the senior choir, finance committee, and church council. In his later years, Jim was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg, PA. There he served as a choir member, chairperson of the finance committee, music/worship committee, church council, and mentor for the acolytes.

As an educator, Jim worked for the Northern Lebanon School District at the Lickdale and Jonestown Elementary buildings, serving the district for 31 years. For an additional 14 years, Jim served as a classroom substitute teacher. Jim was a member of the Lebanon County Educational Honor Society and a member of the Lebanon County Chapter of PASR. He was a life member of Pilgrim Chapter, Order of Demolay, the Northern Lebanon Alumni Band, Mt. Lebanon Lodge No. 226 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, and member of the Consistory Choir, Rajah Shrine and Lebanon County Shrine Club, and Quittapahilla Forest #25 of the Tall Cedars.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Arline (Warren) Rhoad, sister-in-law, Jane Bomberger, sister-in-law, Joanna (John) Goodison, sister-in-law, Laurite (Paul) Vranesic, mother-in-law, Meda S. White, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Charles E. Bomberger, and sister, Fern I. Erdman.

A viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. following a Masonic service at 8:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Social Hall, Stouchsburg, for immediate family only.
