Annerose Cochrane, 89, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on April 19, 2024.

She was born in Bremen, Germany, on Sept. 9, 1934, to Karl and Florentine Stratmeyer.

Annerose grew up in Bremen and Frankfurt, Germany, and Chomutov, Czech Republic. She attended school in Bremen and graduated with a degree in Import/Export Business.

She worked for the city of Bremen in the import/export area. She later moved with her family to Frankfurt, Germany, where she worked for the U.S. Army USO. While working for the U.S. Army, she met her future husband, James Cochrane. She immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 22 and worked for Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In Milwaukee, she reconnected with James. They were married in 1957 and moved to Eureka, California. James’ U.S. Forest Service career required the couple to move several times. Their next move was to Safford, Arizona, where their first child, Michael, was born. This was followed by a move to Flagstaff, Arizona, and the birth of two more children, Kevin and Miquette. Future moves took the family to Taos, New Mexico; Phoenix, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Reno, Nevada; Salt Lake City, Utah; Denver, Colorado; and Juneau, Alaska. James retired after Juneau, and the couple moved to Vancouver, Washington. They spent several years in Vancouver before moving to Annville, Pennsylvania, in 2001. In 2023, Annerose moved to The Juniper in Newark, Delaware, to be closer to family.

Annerose had many interests and hobbies she was passionate about. She played on a tennis team, frequently played bridge, bowled, gardened, and volunteered for the SPCA because she loved all animals.

She is survived by her three children, Miquette Orr (Allen), Kevin Cochrane (Violeta), and Michael Cochrane (Lorraine); grandchildren, Allen Orr (Samantha), James Orr (Hannah), and Christopher Orr; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Olivia, and Lily.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, James Cochrane; her parents, Karl and Florentine Stratmeyer; and her siblings, Hildegard, Harald, and Holger.

Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
