Anton Schwarz, 85, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Wolf) Schwarz. They were married for 63 years.

Born in a small country called Calizien, which is now part of Ukraine, on Apr. 12, 1935, Anton was the son of the late Andreas and Anna (Gaisbauer) Schwarz.

In 1939, he and his family relocated to Poland and lived on a farm. During the Second World War, the family moved westward to Wels, Austria to avoid communism and remained there until the war ended. In 1945, the family made Ludwigsburg, Germany their home. Anton attended schools in Poland, Austria, and Germany and, in 1952, moved to the United States, settling in Lebanon, PA. It was there that Anton met his wife, Shirley Wolf. They married in 1957, the same year that Anton became a United States citizen. He was a faithful member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Lebanon and retired as a machinist from the former Raymark Industries in Manheim in 1997. He was an avid hunter and a life member of Elstonville Sportsman Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children – Anton Schwarz, Jr., and his wife, Sharon, and Heidi Dove; four grandchildren – Jennifer, Bethany, Amy, and Ashley; four great-grandchildren – Sophia, Kylie, Mayson, and Kayla; three siblings – Anastasia Fick, Marie Coomer, and Wilhelm Schwarz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons – Joseph and David.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042 with a viewing from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
