Arlene C. (Overton) Henderson, 100, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Cedar Haven. She was the wife of the late Dan Overton, Karl Karam and Russell Henderson.

Born in Roaring Branch, PA on January 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harford and Marian Wheary Messner. She was a 1942 graduate from the Williamsport Hospital Nursing Training. Arlene retired from the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY where she had worked as a Head Nurse. She was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed working and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her children, Harford D. husband of Maureen Overton, of SD, Elizabeth A. Overton wife of Philip Brewer, of Fredericksburg and Daniel C. Overton; grandchildren Jessica, Jason (AJ), Tammy, Annie (Fred), Sarah and Daniel; thirteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Robert, husband of Kim, and her brother Clair B. and wife Elizabeth Messner.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 10925 SR 414, Roaring Branch, PA. A time for visiting with the family will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
