Arlene G. Phillippy, 74, of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center. She was the wife of Robert C. Phillippy, to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Groves and Erdine (Meigs) Hitchman.
Arlene graduated from Millersville University and was an elementary school teacher with Derry Township for many years. She furthered her education in other studies at Temple University. Arlene was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lebanon, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed reading and dancing, was active with the Lebanon Community Theatre, and was an avid lover of cats and dogs. Arlene also liked to cook and bake.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Ronald Hitchman; brother-in-law, Lester “Skip” Phillippy, and wife, Patricia; and sister-in-law, Annamae Smith.
Arlene was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary A. Kreider, wife of John Kreider.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11 a.m. from Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at the funeral home.
