Barbara A. Buss, 74, passed away on Dec. 3, 2024, in Hershey, PA, after a years-long battle against the disease of Parkinson’s.
Barbara Buss was born on June 1, 1950, in Great Barrington, MA, to Peter Skei Sr. and Helen Skei née Muller.
Barbara married Edward Buss, thereby becoming a parent to a beloved daughter, Wanda Buss. A self-made woman, Barbara took great pleasure in bringing joy to local communities as the owner of Just Nuts & Candy, at one point having a total of six stores. For the past five years, she lived with her best friend, Jennifer Schaadt, and together, they shared the passion for carefully crafting chocolates in the candy room of Barbara’s house. She also enjoyed baking, and her flour confections could be found in restaurants as far as the state of Florida.
Barbara is survived by her brothers, Peter Skei and Jeffrey Skei; stepdaughter, Wanda Buss; friend and housemate, Jennifer Schaadt; nephews, PJ (Crystal) Skei and Jason (Melissa) Skei; three grand-nephews; and one grand-niece. Known for her love of animals, Barbara also departs now from her faithful English Cream Golden Retriever, Casper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Buss, who left Casper behind in the end to keep watch over Barbara in Ed’s stead.
Services are to be held privately at the convenience of friends and family.
