Barbara A. “Barb” Wolferd, 69, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2024.
Born on Aug. 3, 1955, in Lebanon, PA, she was a beacon of love and compassion to everyone who knew her.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School, Class of 1973. In pursuit of her dream of caring for others, she earned her nursing degree from Reading Area Community College in 1987.
Over the years, she dedicated her life to the healthcare profession, serving as a Registered Nurse in various capacities, including the Emergency Department at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. She held the position of Director of Nursing at Manor Care in both Lebanon and Elizabethtown, also embracing adventures as a traveling nurse before retiring from the State of Pennsylvania’s Medical Claims Department in 2021.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession. Barbara loved reading, crocheting, beading, sewing, and gardening. She found joy in cooking and baking for her friends and family, and her home was a warm gathering place for many. Barbara was an avid traveler, relishing the thrill of hiking and skiing in her younger years, but she found her true happiness by the ocean, spending over 30 cherished years at her beach house in Lewes, Delaware.
Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Aubrey Weaver; her devoted mother, Joan Esbenshade; her brother, William “Spike” Esbenshade; and her sister, Dulcy Fortna.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Esbenshade.
