Barbara Grace Root, a woman whose life was full of love, adventure, and kindness, passed away on June 1st, 2023, at her home. She was born on March 6th, 1959, in Berkeley, CA.

Barbara attended Maple High School and graduated in the Class of 1976. She loved learning new things and gaining knowledge from every opportunity that came her way.

Barbara started her professional career at her father’s VW dealership, Clark & Larsson, in Lompoc, CA. She then worked at Johns-Manville Corporation, a Diatomaceous Earth mine in the same city. Later, she worked on the space shuttle West Coast Port at Vandenberg AFB in Lompoc, before moving to San Diego County, where she worked for Vons Corporation (Safeway) in various cities, before retiring.

After retirement, Barbara moved to Pennsylvania with her loving husband, Howard Thomas Root, originally from Lebanon, PA. 

Barbara had many hobbies and interests, which she pursued with utmost passion throughout her life. Scuba diving, sailing, and RV travels were among her favorite pastimes. She also occupied her time with various arts and crafts and volunteered as a Canal Boat Captain for the Union Canal Tunnel, located in Lebanon, PA, where she shared stories of local history with visitors. Motorcycle riding and kayaking were also pastimes and adventures worldwide.

Barbara’s love knew no bounds; she cherished spending time with her dear family members and friends. Her kind-hearted personality touched many lives throughout her journey of life.

She leaves behind her husband, Howard Thomas Root; stepson, David Thomas Root; and spouse, Olivia Ruth, along with their son, Wyatt Thomas Root.

Her father, John Larsson; mother, Helen Larsson; along with brother, Eric Larsson, preceded her death.

Funeral services will be held on June 9th, 2023. Viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. at Christman’s Funeral Home, Inc., located at 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, PA.

Barbara was such a remarkable human being whose journey of life had influenced and inspired many people. Though she is no more, the love and warmth that she carried in her heart will always be remembered. She will be dearly missed. May her soul rest in peace.Â
