Bertha J. “Sis” McFarland, 66, of Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at her home. She was the wife of Robert C. ”Pinky” McFarland. On April 26, they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.
Born in Harrisburg on Nov. 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Wayne S. and Margaret L. Knull Sease.
Sis was a thoroughbred horse trainer for many years and toured all the tracks as far west as Chicago. Following her time as a trainer, she worked as a chef for many different restaurants. She loved her family, and they were the most important part of her life. She also enjoyed going to the beach, sitting by her pool, traveling, and playing in the pool league for APA. She was a member of the AmVets Post 293.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Jason M., and his wife, Gizelle McFarland, of Jonestown; daughters, Natasha T. Facer, of Lebanon, and Christina M. McFarland, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Caden, Nickolas, Dante, Landon, Jaxon, and Jamison; brother, Wayne “Mike” Sease, of Jonestown; and her sister, Linda J. Bennett, of Linglestown.
She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Bailey Jane, Lydija Rose, and Wyatt Mychale; her brother, John E. Sease; and her sister, Rose M. Bennett.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 2 p.m. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with her husband, Pinky.
