Betty K. Bannister, 89, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at her home. She was the wife of the late Austin R. “Ozzie” Bannister, who passed away in 2012.
Born in Trenton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Gunkel) Kovacs.
Betty graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952. She worked as a payroll clerk for the State of New Jersey Labor & Industry and, later, at Cedar Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation. Betty enjoyed reading, BINGO, bowling, and playing cards. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Betty always looked for the good in others and put her family before her own needs. She will be missed by her family as a loving mom, meme, and nanny.
She is survived by two children, David Bannister, and wife, Tina of Parma, OH, and Julia, wife of Glenn Fields, of Lebanon, PA; six grandchildren, Sandra Bannister, Austin Bannister, Megan Fields, Sarah Fields, Patrick Conroy, and Alex Conroy; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Buckley, and wife, Martha, and Joseph Kovacs, and wife, Cheryl; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Lear.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at 11 a.m., from Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at the funeral home.
