Blanche A. Bixler, 97, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.  She was born Tuesday, April 1, 1924, in Tower City to the late John W. and Ida Mae (Bohr) Lemke.  She is predeceased by her loving husband Walter Bixler since November 6, 2006.

Blanche graduated from Porter Township High School In 1942.  She went on to marry Walter on December 22, 1944.  She worked for the Palmyra School District in the cafeteria until retiring in 1986.  She loved spending time with her family, going to the shore, and going out to lunch with her girlfriends.

As a member of the Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra she belonged to the sewing group and friendship circle.  She volunteered at the food bank in Lebanon helping to prepare and serve the noon meal.

The family would like to thank Aseracare Hospice, especially Sue, Sara, Dinene, Amanda, and others for all of their loving care to her and to the family during the last few months.

She is survived by her son, Donald Bixler and wife Rebecca, grandchildren, Jonathan Bixler and wife Lindsay and David Bixler and companion Sara Wilt, and great-grandchildren, Landon, Kate, Carson, and Finnley Bixler.  She is predeceased by her brothers, Lloyd and Raymond Lemke, and sisters, Grace English and Alma Howard.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 7th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Reverend Carl Rabbe officiating.  A time of viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Palm Lutheran Church, 11 W. Cherry St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
