Brenda Dowhower, 95, formerly of Londonderry Township, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, in the Middletown Home.
Born November 4, 1926 in Carlisle, England, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Lillian (Carruthers) Hold and came to the United States in 1946. The widow of Marlin R. Dowhower since October 2018, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Linda Easter, brothers Cyril and Gordon Hold and her former husband Gerald Cox.
Brenda worked for the good of her family as a waitress at Howard Johnson’s, was a top salesperson for Avon and owned her own flower shop in her home but was mainly a good wife and mother. She was a member of Geyers United Methodist Church, Middletown.
Surviving Brenda are her sons Wayne Cox (Brenda), Bruce Cox (Louise), Craig Cox (Cheryl), Daniel Dowhower and Bradley Dowhower (Denise); grandchildren Tanya Brautigan, Trisha Dries, Timothy Easter, Sean Cox, Joe Dowhower and Cody Dowhower.
A memorial service for Brenda and Marlin will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her church, 1605 Geyers Church Road, Middletown preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will be in Shenk’s Cemetery, Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Geyers United Methodist Church, 1605 South Geyers Church Road, Middletown, PA 17057.
