Carl D. Hower, 74, of Myerstown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, June 24, 2021, in Williamsport, Lycoming County.

Born in Lebanon on January 6, 1947, he was the proud son of the late Tillie I. (Wartluft) and Davilla J. Hower, Jr. Carl was the husband of Gloria J. (Weitzel) Hower his beloved wife to whom he would have celebrated  55 years of marriage on August 6, 2021. He was employed as a truck driver for Waste Management from where he retired.

Carl attended The Bridge of Hope Church, Womelsdorf. He was a life member of the Rescue Fire Company in Mt. Aetna, a life member of the Marion Township Rod and Gun Club, as well as various other memberships including the Mt. Zion Community Fire Company and the Womelsdorf Rod and Gun Club. He also volunteered at the Myerstown Church of the Brethren Sharing Cupboard.

One of his greatest joys was spending time at The Silver Streak 8 Hunting Camp in Lycoming County. He was an avid sports fan of the Phillies and Eagles. Carl enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was their #1 fan. He also enjoyed family vacations to the beach and spending as much time as possible with family and friends. Carl’s legacy will live on in the many lives he has touched. He was and always will be a “superhero” to his daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by daughters, Lisa Maurer, of Myerstown, Lori, wife of Greg Leonard, of Myerstown, Kristi Keath, of Myerstown; grandchildren, Victoria, Branden, Landon, and Jackson; sisters, Mary, wife of George Wolfe, of Myerstown, and Linda, wife of Michael Troutman, of Bethel; brother-in-law, Paul Long, of Myerstown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Long.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at The Bridge of Hope Church, Womelsdorf, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
