Carl W. Heagy, 74, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at York Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Monday, Nov. 8, 1948, to the late Harry J. Heagy and Geraldine E. Heagy nee Gassert in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
He was a former Sergeant in the Army, who served three tours in Vietnam before his honorable discharge on July 30, 1973. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge during his service to our country.
Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked at Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts in Lebanon, PA, as a grinder until his retirement. During his life, Carl was the owner and founder of Heagy’s Rare Coins and was a lifelong Numismatist. He spent decades selling coins and antiques at Renninger’s Antique Market in Adamstown, PA. Carl was also very passionate about his hometown and acquired a vast collection of historic Lebanon memorabilia. The only thing greater than his love of antiques and coins was the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his sons, William Heagy Sr. (Linda) and Shane Heagy; grandchildren, William Jr., Alexis, Zander, Taylor, Gavin, and Brandon; brothers, Harry Heagy and Michael Mann; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl was predeceased by his beloved wife, Det T. Heagy; and son, Harry Heagy.
Services will be held at Christman’s Funeral Home, 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon, on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by Graveside services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 12:30 p.m.
