Carolyn M. Sutherly Hauck, 90, formerly of Newmanstown, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, in Stone Ridge Towne Centre, Myerstown. She was the wife of the late Vernon Sutherly and Milford Hauck.

She was born in Sheridan on Dec. 13, 1931, a daughter of the late George R. and Katie L. Miller Kahl.

Carolyn was a supervisor of housekeeping at Wernersville State Hospital, retiring after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Elias United Church of Christ, Newmanstown, where she served as committee chairperson for their soup and bake sales. Carolyn was an avid Phillies fan, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Neider, and husband, Gary, of Reinholds, Derek Sutherly, and wife, Kim, of FL, Trina Brugger, and husband, Jeff, of Denver, and Lane Sutherly, and wife, Diane, of Newmanstown; stepchildren, Kenneth “Pinky” Hauck, and wife, Carol, of Myerstown, Linda Sheetz, and husband, Logan, of Richland, Dale Hauck, of Cleona, and Brian Hauck, and wife, Kelly, of Schaefferstown; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 10 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Angstadt, of Newmanstown, and Bonita Beamesderfer, and husband, Calvin, of Myerstown.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, Allen, George, James, John, and Larry Kahl, sisters, Violet Weaver, Josephine Wolfe, Sarah Wolfe, Loretta Eisenbise, and Grace Weik, and stepson, William Hauck.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. in Elias United Church of Christ, 9 N. Sheridan Rd., Newmanstown, PA, with a viewing beginning on Tuesday at 10 am. Masks are suggested to be worn. Interment will be made in the Millcreek Memorial Cemetery.
