Casey (Gezá) Kanalos, 84, of Lebanon, entered eternal life on Monday, June 6, 2022, at his home. He was the husband of Marilyn (Miller) (Kreider) Kanalos.
Born in Detroit (Delray) MI on September 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Steve and Anna (Lipko) Kanalos.
Casey was a Korean and Vietnam Era veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and retired in 1974. During his military career, he was a firefighter and crash and rescue crew member on the HH43 helicopters.
After the military, he entered fire service, and in 1989, he retired as the Fire Chief at Indiantown Gap. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 70 years and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7076, Myerstown.
In his spare time, Casey enjoyed visiting the casino, fishing, and especially spending time with his family. He was a wonderful cook and was a very caring person, always ready to help others. Casey loved history and was very proud of his Gypsy heritage.
In addition to his “Precious” wife, as he called her, he is survived by a sister Rosalind (Charles) Andrews of IL; children A. Scott Walden of OH, Kimberly (Sean) Doonan of CA, Casey (Lisa) Kanalos, II of OR, and Kenneth Kanalos of CA; stepchildren Brad (Elizabeth) Kreider of Bethel, Alan (Cynthia) Kreider of Lebanon and Dean (Amber) Kreider of Lebanon; and thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
