Charel “Cherie” (Cooper) Porubiansky, 82, of Manheim, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1942, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Charles Jr. and Eleanor (Scattergood) Cooper.
She was a 1960 graduate of Germantown High School, Philadelphia, and earned an associate degree from Lebanon Valley College in 1992. After a number of secretarial positions over the years, she found her niche as Manager of the Beehive Gift Shop at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, until her retirement in 2011.
Charel is survived by her husband, James, of Manheim; children, Denise McCulley, and companion, Dru Kerstetter, of Goglersville, PA, Leonard McCulley Jr., of Philadelphia, and Eric (Lina) McCulley, of Macomb, MI.; brothers, Charles (Kathleen) Cooper III, of Philadelphia, and Gary (Sherry) Cooper, of Berkley, CA; grandchildren, Chase and Isabella McCulley; great-grandchildren, Everett and Silas McCulley; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her cherished cats, Rosie II and Scooter.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Paul (Chris) Cooper; as well as her beloved dog, Gretchen, and cats, C.J., Rosie, and Sweet P.
Cherie was an animal lover, a wine connoisseur, a meticulous gardener, a gifted artist, and an expert crafter. She was a talented interior designer and decorator, as evidenced by her Gift Shop, her own home, and the homes of numerous friends and family. She was a collector of Oriental dolls, flamingos, owls, and her favorite flower, sunflowers.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1 p.m. from Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 Main St., Annville, PA. Inurnment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation with her family will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of her service at the funeral home.
Flowers are welcomed, and memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067, in her memory.
