Charles G. Clay, 64, of Bethel, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Sylvia A. (Nye) Clay.

Born in Reading on Dec. 26, 1955, Charles was the son of the late Charles and Minerva (Himmelberger) Clay.

Charles was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mt. Aetna and worked as a machinist for Tri-County Precision Machine in Lebanon. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and attending countless car shows over the years. It was there that he made lifelong friends and won awards for his pride and joy – his classic 1960 Ford Falcon – and he was a proud “Ford guy.” But, when Charles wasn’t in the garage, you could find him cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers or watching Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies. And when winter rolled around, he and Sylvia loved to take the snowmobile for a ride. Charles was a personable guy and a great storyteller. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband and father, and that is how he will be remembered.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shawna Clay and her fiancé Kyle Althouse; her son, Ryan Clay; and two sisters, Judy Ream and Lisa Kreiser. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Beck.

Funeral services will be held privately. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please share your memories with the family at our online guest book at thompsonfuneralhomelebanon.com
