Charles Louis “Popeye” Saylor, Jr., 82, of Lebanon passed away on Tuesday June 1, 2021, at StoneRidge Poplar Run in Myerstown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Funk Saylor, who passed in 1991, and his second wife, M. Jacqueline Murray, who passed in 2020.
Charlie was born in Lebanon on January 21, 1939, to the late Charles L. Saylor, Sr., and Luella (Lehman) Saylor. He was a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a US Army veteran. He was a stonemason, having worked for Kenneth Buchmoyer Masonry for 37 years. Following retirement, he had worked for Manheim Auto Auction for 10 years.
Charlie was a member of St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church. He was an avid Penn State Fan, being a season ticket holder. He was an avid bowler; also, the secretary/treasurer of two leagues. He enjoyed golfing, camping, card playing, doing puzzles, swimming, dining out, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Thomas M. Piersol (Christina Ashmore) of Lebanon, Judy M. Fuhrman (Scott) of Fredericksburg, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great greatgrandchild, and his siblings, Randall Saylor, of Jonestown, Pearl Mahan, of Connecticut, and Marie Reich of Lebanon. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Arnold.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. There will be a procession forming at 10:15 a.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main Street, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
