Charles R. “Charlie” Gingrich, 86, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

Born in Lebanon on Sept. 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Irene Garrett Gingrich.

Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the Johnstown Post Office, where he was the Postmaster. He was a member of the Lebanon Elks, the Annville American Legion, and the National Postmasters Assoc. He was also the founding member of the Tall Pines Hunting Camp in Clinton Co.

He is survived by his four grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and his companion, Lucille M. Sheaffer, of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan E. Allen; and his sisters, Dora Barr, Irene Will, and Bessie Solie.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at the Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, 410 Ebenezer Road, Lebanon.
