Charles R. Rhoads Sr., 78, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at his home.
Born in Lebanon on April 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Herbert and Hilda (Whitman) Rhoads. Following high school, Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1968-1970 as an SGT in the 2nd Battalion, 39th Artillery. Throughout his life, he worked as a carpenter. He retired from Mosaic Tile in Manheim. He was a member of the VFW and the Fredericksburg American Legion, where he also served as Post Commander. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Charles R. Rhoads Jr., and his wife, Michelle, of Jonestown, and Teahl M. Rhoads, and his wife, Jennifer, of Lebanon; brothers, Ken Rhoads, of Lebanon, and Dave Rhoads, of Myerstown; sister, Judy, of Myerstown; grandchildren, Emilie, Hunter, Collin, and Faith; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert; and sisters, Anetta Mountz, Polly Rhoads, and Joanne Whisler.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The procession will be leaving the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 915, 669 Legionnaire Dr., Fredericksburg, PA 17026.
